Globalization, so far, has been driven by the forces of information technology and multinational corporations. Ethical concerns, however, have made significant inroads into the refinement of these forces.  It is now widely accepted that trade and other economic activities are only the means by which genuine human development in its multifaceted manifestations can be realized.
